Vistara has received its first Airbus A321neo from Airbus’ production facility in Hamburg, Germany.

The narrow-body Airbus A321neo is deployed on short to medium-haul international routes or destinations within seven hours of flying time.

The 188-seater aircraft features three-class configuration – 12 lie-flat seats in business class, 24 in premium economy, and 152 in the economy. The business class seats come in 2-2 configuration while the premium economy and economy have 3-3 configuration set up.

All of them feature four-way adjustable headrests and movable armrests. Passengers will enjoy seat-back entertainment and there is in-seat power/USB charging ports in every seat.

The aircraft is fitted with a state-of-the-art inflight entertainment system and offers an interesting map experience with a 3D flight path map and flight tracker. The aircraft is also equipped with wireless connectivity, which will allow passengers to access the internet through onboard wifi, 3G mobile data through GSM and GPRS for SMS and MMS services.

The business class seats on the A321neo are upholstered in premium, genuine leather that reclines into fully-flat beds. Each of these seats has a 16-inch high-definition screen and a video handset to navigate the inflight entertainment system.

This addition makes Vistara “the first airline in south Asia to offer lie-flat beds on a narrow-body aircraft and one of the few such airlines across the world.”

The seats in premium economy and economy cabins are made in high quality, breathable fabric that provide an airy, modern inflight experience.

Leslie Thng, chief executive officer, Vistara says, “This new addition to our fleet reinforces our long-term commitment to international expansion plans, despite the challenges of the current times. The new cabin products on our A321neo aircraft complement our promise of providing a premium and world-class flying experience to travellers from and to India.”

“The A321neo aircraft ensures operational enhancement, cost-effectiveness as well as reduction of the carbon footprint for us while enabling extra payload capacity, greater fuel efficiency and higher range. All of these aspects align with our international growth strategy,” adds Thng.

Elaborating more on this, Christian Scherer, chief commercial officer, Airbus said, “In these challenging times, differentiation through efficiency, product and customer mindset is what truly matters, and we are proud to see our A321neo is an essential cornerstone in meeting Vistara’s strategic objectives for the future.
