Macao is gearing up to resume international tourism and is ensuring high standards of safety and hygiene across the destination.

Hotels and resorts are implementing preventive measures including temperature screenings, availability of hand sanitisers and UV sterilisers to disinfect hotel keycards among others.

Social distancing, mandatory use of masks, selective entry with proper quarantining, vigilant tracking and monitoring are some other protocols being adopted across travel and tourism businesses in the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Arzan Khambatta, head of Macao Government Tourism Office, India said “Tourism being an indispensable part of the service sector for any country, Macao is all set to take its first step to prepare the destination from the devastating effects of the pandemic with effective preventive measures. Since the beginning of Covid-19 outbreak in early 2020, Macao has proven itself capable of battling the spread of the virus with lowest reported cases and zero deaths.

Currently, Macao is taking steps to overcome the tourism slump and has launched a new campaign to encourage local tourism called “Macao Ready Go! Local Tours”.

“The campaign is aimed for the locals as of now, but we hope it will soon be available for international travellers once travel bans are lifted,” adds Khambatta.
