Hyatt is set to add six properties in the southern US under its recently acquired Thompson Hotels brand.

First up will be the Thompson Dallas and Thompson San Antonio – both scheduled to open in November this year.

The 219-room Dallas property will be housed within a re-development of the city’s 52-story First National Bank Tower, and will feature a 49th floor restaurant and 50th floor observation deck, as well as an “urban oasis” on the 9th floor featuring an infinity edge pool, spa, fitness centre and “yoga and pet parks”.

Meanwhile the 162-room Thompson San Antonio will be located on the banks of the San Antonio River, and will feature a 20th floor rooftop bar, and a restaurant from “a celebrated local chef”.

Further ahead the brand is slated to open properties in Savannah, Buckhead and Austin in 2021, as well as Houston in 2023.

Thompson Hotels joined Hyatt last year, following the group’s purchase of lifestyle hotel management company Two Roads Hospitality. The lifestyle brand also joined the World of Hyatt loyalty programme in March 2019.

In January Hyatt opened the first Thompson property in Washington DC, with an 11-storey new-build located in the city’s Navy Yard district.

Commenting on the news Crystal Vinisse Thomas, Hyatt’s director of global lifestyle brands, said:

“We are excited to announce the future openings of six new Thompson hotels in Georgia and Texas, which, together with Thompson Nashville, will bolster the brand’s presence in the Southern US.

“In this new and uncharted era of travel, we recognize the importance of unique, lifestyle-driven hotels that inspire travellers seeking refined and evocative experiences.

“We look forward to inviting our guests to rediscover southern hospitality through the tailored lens of the Thompson Hotels brand – celebrating the rich culinary, music and artistic foundations of the South through exceptional service, crafted design and an elevated social scene.”
