Affordable luxury hotel group Citizen M has launched a new mobile app which it says enables “contactless stays” in the light of Covid-19.

Customers can use the app to check in and out of the group’s properties, pay for all in-hotel purchases, control in-room lights, blinds, temperature and entertainment controls, pre-select rooms, order food and beverage, and request service extras such as pillows and toiletries.

The new app forms part of Citizen M’s enhanced safety standards to reassure guests following the coronavirus pandemic, with other measures including moving to an opt-in housekeeping service, disinfectant stations for guests and employees, social distancing signs, and electrostatic sprayers for use in luggage, public areas and guestrooms after checkout.

In addition the group has adopted cashless payments across its entire portfolio to limit interaction.

Citizen M currently has 18 properties in its portfolio across Europe, North America and Asia, including three hotels in both London and Paris.

The French and English capital cities are set to welcome additional Citizen M hotels, with a 151-room property on rue de la Boétie close to the Champs-Élysées, and a 226-room hotel close to London Victoria station.

Last year the group also announced plans for properties in Seattle, Washington DC and Geneva, and last month the first Italian properties were announced for Milan and Rome.
