Ruby Group has announced plans for a 173-room hotel in Notting Hill, in what will be its third property in the UK capital.

Ruby Zoe is scheduled to open in 2023, within walking distance of Portobello Road Market, Kensington Palace and Hyde Park.

The new-build property will include “a spacious street-front public area combining retail and hotel elements”.

Ruby unveiled its first London property (Ruby Lucy) close to Waterloo station earlier this year, and a second hotel (Ruby Stella) is set to open in Clerkenwell in 2022.

The Ruby describes itself as “lean luxury” brand that offers an affordable price by “rigorously cutting out the superfluous and focusing on the essential.”

Commenting on the Notting Hill property, Jo Allen, CEO of develper Frogmore said:

“We are delighted to have secured Ruby Hotels as an occupier on our Notting Hill Gate Estate. When we asked Gerard Nolan and Partners to market the hotel opportunity in our West Block we received 13 bids from 10 different hotel operators. We really love Ruby’s approach and vision for the project which we believe will complement the area.

“The Ruby Team have been fabulous to work with, have convincing development and construction competence together with the financial resources to deliver something special which I hope will be enjoyed by many.“

There are currently eight Ruby Hotels across Europe – the group recently announced plans for its first Stuttgart property, as well as an expansion of its existing Ruby Lissi hotel in Vienna.
