Cathay Pacific and its regional wing Cathay Dragon have issued travel requirements for passengers transiting through Hong Kong International Airport.

The carriers said passengers travelling with either airline will be able to transit through Hong Kong if they meet the following requirements:

  • Their itinerary is contained in a single booking and
  • The connection time to their next Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon operated flight is within 8 hours.

Cathay also said on its website that “air transit services at Hong Kong International Airport will resume in phases” and that “in this first phase, transiting to and from destinations in mainland China is not available”.

Hong Kong’s Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said last month that transit flights at Hong Kong International Airport will be allowed to resume on June 1, according to SCMP. Lam did not provide further details.

The airline also said it is requiring passengers to answer “health screening questions” upon check-in at worldwide airports, including Hong Kong.

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AA)  announced a series of health measures at the airport for passengers transiting through the aviation hub. These measures include requiring all passengers, as well as airport staff, to wear face masks in all passenger accessible areas of HKIA’s restricted area “until further notice”.
