The Avios Group and British Airways Executive Club are partnering to give away over 200 million Avios to NHS staff, “as a big thank you for their tireless efforts in the fight against Covid-19”.

A total of 210 million Avios has been pledged by the Avios Group, which will be split across 3,500 NHS employees, each of whom will get 60,000 points.

In addition British Airways is encouraging its Executive Club members to donate their own Avios to the fund, which will increase the number of NHS staff receiving the bonus.

Members can donate set amounts of 500, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000 or 25,000 Avios, or opt to donate even more by filling in a web form at

Avios Group said that “Later this year hard-working staff will be selected by NHS organisations across the UK, with the Avios given as a thank you for their dedication in the fight against Covid-19”.

The group said that 60,000 Avios is enough for a pair of return flights to a range of European destinations, and a two-night hotel stay, or a family trip to the theatre.

Commenting on the news Adam Daniels, Avios’ chief executive, said:

“There’s no disputing the fact that our NHS workers have worked tirelessly in the fight against Covid-19, and it is for that reason we wanted to show them just how grateful we are for their dedicated and inspiring efforts.

“We hope that 60,000 Avios points gives these NHS workers the flexibility they need – whether they want to put them towards a flight, a hotel, an experience, a car rental or a whole host of other options

“We are keen to play our part in thanking NHS workers. But on top of this, we’ve had feedback from Executive Club Members who have been asking for an opportunity to donate their Avios to a worthy cause.

“We’re therefore glad to be able to offer them the option to increase the pot if they feel they’re able, meaning we can thank more workers. So if you have any spare Avios, please do consider donating.”,
