Rosewood Hotel Group today announced the launch of Rosewood Raise which it said is a relief initiative developed in support of the Group’s associates who have been impacted by the Covid-19 crisis and the communities in which the Group operates in.

The Group said Rosewood Raise will support a relief fund for its associates, as well as initiatives such as donating hotels rooms, meal preparation and supplies for essential workers.

A number of major hotel brands have been donating rooms and supplies to medical staff in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis. Earlier this month, Hilton partnered with American Express to donate up to one million hotel rooms across the United States to frontline medical staff.

The aim of Rosewood’s relief fund is “to assist staff in corporate offices” and hotels across three Rosewood brands – Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New World Hotels & Resorts, and KHOS, the Group said in a statement posted on its website.

“The fund will support associates whose jobs were amongst the first and most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, prioritising those facing financial difficulties due to health-related needs, as well as local communities that have been especially affected by the pandemic,” said Rosewood.

Rosewood said in the first two weeks since its formation, the fund has received “initial pledges of close to USD $2 million” from Rosewood Hotel Group’s corporate executives and associates.

The Group said one of the first properties to be affected by Covid-19 was New World Hotels & Resorts’ hotels in Wuhan and Guiyang which provided complimentary accommodation to medical workers.

Both Rosewood Bangkok (Bangkok, Thailand) and Rosewood Miramar Beach (Montecito, USA) have created “Rosewood on the Move”, a food delivery service that offers meals to frontline workers in the hotels’ respective regions, according to Rosewood.

“Rosewood Miramar Beach, specifically, has already served over 1,500 meals to essential personnel throughout Santa Barbara, CA, ranging from police officers and fire fighters to waste handlers and grocery store attendants,” said the Group.

The Group added that additional properties preparing meals for key workers at their local hospitals include Rosewood London (London, UK), Rosewood Hong Kong (Hong Kong, SAR), and Rosewood Abu Dhabi (Abu Dhabi, UAE).

“Through the launch of Rosewood Raise, Rosewood Hotel Group is committed to continuing to identify and execute future opportunities to support its associates and the global community through multi-layered fundraising activities and community service projects in the years ahead,” said the Group in a press release.
