World Health Day 2020

Every year, April 7 is celebrated as World Health Day to spread awareness about maintaining good health and a balanced lifestyle. This year, the special day is dedicated to the nurses, midwives and other health workers who are fighting the Covid-19 global pandemic situation.

While the medical force is serving at the frontline; we the citizens, who are in quarantine, can also contribute effectively towards battling the crisis by adopting healthy and hygienic practices:

healthy eating

Mindful eating: For many of us being at home means gorging on junk food. However, one must be watchful of what they eat and should practice a diet that is high on nutritional value and rich in protein.

Exercise regularly

Exercise regularly: Workout doesn’t only mean jogging outdoors and sweating it out at the gym. Stay active and create a full-body workout regime indoors. Basics like planks, pushups, squats and burpees are easy to do at home. Turn to Youtube and other online portals if you need some guidance and motivation.

meditation

Focus on mental wellbeing: With so much negativity around, it is very vital that we work on our mental health; and not be overwhelmed by the current situation. Doing yoga or engaging in therapeutic activities like painting and cooking are some of the best ways in which you can divert your mind from all the stress.

coffee

Limit the intake of alcohol and other beverages: Weekend tipples are fine, but sipping on your favourite spirit or caffeine drink every day during this lockdown is not advisable. Believe us when we say that the last thing anyone wants right now is to be admitted in the hospital due to dehydration or overdose.
