The Mandarin Orchard Singapore is to be rebranded as a flagship Hilton property, with the relaunch expected in 2022.

Located on Singapore’s famous Orchard Road, the hotel is currently managed by Meritus Hotels and Resorts, a subsidiary of real estate owner, developer and operator Oue Ltd.

The property is set to embark on a major refurbishment project from the second quarter of this year, to “to capitalise on the weak operating environment due to COVID-19 and to position the property to benefit from the expected recovery in the Singapore hospitality sector once travel confidence resumes”.

Phased works are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021, and the hotel will then be relaunched as the Hilton Singapore Orchard in 2022. Until then it will continue to be managed Meritus.

At 1,080 rooms it will become the largest Hilton hotel in Asia-Pacific following the rebrand.

The renovation will include the addition of new meeting facilities, as well as “refreshed food and beverage offerings to cater to the growing demand for regional and global meetings, incentives, conference and exhibition events”.

According to the press release the hotel will feature five restaurants and bars including an all-day dining restaurant when it is relaunched, as well as 3,765 sqm of events space, including three ballrooms.

Commenting on the news Brian Riady, deputy chief executive officer of OUE, said:

“We are presented here with exciting opportunities to tap on the strong brand recognition, global distribution network, and industry-leading innovations that Hilton brings, as we reposition the property more strategically for the longer term within Singapore’s landscape of robust tourism growth and at the same time increased competition in the hospitality industry.”
