Brussels Airlines has announced it will suspend all operations from March 24 to April 19, as the coronavirus pandemic sparks a crisis in the aviation industry.

On Monday it was announced that its fellow Lufthansa Group carrier Austrian Airlines will pause all flights from March 19 to March 28.

The airline has said that for flights booked before March 5, it is offering free rebookings for flights until April 30.

For all flights booked on or after March 5, it will offer a one-time free rebooking for all flights until December 31, 2020.

The Lufthansa group will cut short- and long-haul capacity by up to 90 per cent across its network in the coming months.
