As cases of coronavirus multiply globally (in India, over 70 positive cases have been recorded so far), restrictions on international as well as domestic travel are also increasing.

Taking this factor into account, domestic carriers in India, under the directive of Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), are issuing waivers on rescheduling and cancellation.

Indigo announced zero change fees on existing bookings for travel from March 12, 2020 – March 31, 2020. The airline also announced zero change fees on fresh bookings made between March 12, 2020 – March 31, 2020. The Interglobe Aviation led-carrier has stated that over the past few days however, week-on-week, there has been a 15-20 per cent decline in its daily bookings.

Indigo tweeted:

Likewise, Spicejet will not charge any fees on existing bookings for travel between March 12-March 31, 2020 and on new bookings for travel between March 12, 2020 – March 31, 2020.

Air Asia provisions include:

  • One-time flight change to a new travel date on the same route within 90 calendar days from the original flight time without additional cost, subject to seat availability; OR
  • Credit account: Retain the value of your fare in your Air Asia BIG Loyalty account for future travel with Air Asia. The online credit account is to be redeemed for booking within 180 calendar days from the issuance date for your travel with us. The actual travel dates can be after the expiry date as long as our flight schedule is out.

The above options, applicable for flights ticketed prior to March 8 for travel prior to April 30, are for direct online bookings made via airasia.com only.

Goair tweeted:

Air India and Vistara have also waived off cancellation and rescheduling charges.
