Radisson Hotel Group has announced plans for its first German property under the lifestyle Radisson Red brand.

The Radisson Red Cologne will be located close to the city’s Cologne Cathedral, and will be housed within an existing listed building which will be combined with a new-build property.

Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2023, the hotel will offer 262 rooms, “an exciting restaurant and bar concept”, a fitness centre, and 300 sqm of meeting and events space.

The Radisson Red brand launched in Brussels in 2016, with subsequent locations including Glasgow, Campinas (Sao Paulo), Cape Town and Minneapolis.

The rollout of the brand has been relatively slow, although there has been a recent flurry of announcements, including forthcoming properties in JohannesburgLiverpool and London, as well as three new European hotels set for Lisbon, Porto and Vienna.

There are now 40 properties either open or under development under the brand worldwide.

Commenting on the news Elie Younes, executive vice president and chief development officer, Radisson Hotel Group, said:

“Radisson Red is a very relevant brand for owners and guests. It perfectly fits the market in Cologne and will add a further vibe to its social scene. We look forward to the partnership with the Gerchgroup and thank our partners for their trust.”
