Hilton will open two new hotels in the Asia-Pacific region under its Tapestry Collection brand launched in 2017.
These two new properties, one in Taipei and the other in Christchurch, will mark the debut of the Tapestry Collection brand in the Asia-Pacific region.
Hotel Resonance Taipei, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Slated to open at the end of 2020, Hotel Resonance Taipei will be situated on East Zhongxiao Road, and only 700 metres away from Taipei Main Station, the city’s largest railway station served by Taiwan High Speed Rail, Taiwan Railways and Taipei’s metro system.
The hotel is also close to the city’s major business and shopping districts, as well as local cultural landmarks such as the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and Huashan Cultural and Creative Park.
It will be developed under a franchise agreement with Times Square International Stays Corporation, a subsidiary of Taiwan-based real estate developer Prince Housing and Development Corporation.
The hotel will offer 175 guestrooms with sizes starting from 30 sqm, including 55-sqm Two Bay Suites. The property will also offer on-site parking, a fitness centre and a Starbucks cafe.
In late 2018, Hilton opened two new hotels in Taipei, namely Hilton Taipei Sinban and Doubletree by Hilton Taipei Zhongshan.
The Modern Christchurch, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Located in Christchurch’s central business district at 79 Hereford Street, The Modern Christchurch is set to open its doors in the third quarter of 2021.
The new property will be developed under a franchise agreement with local hotel ownership and management company Sarin Investments and in partnership with investment firm Tailorspace, which is part of the Ben Gough Family Office.
The hotel will offer guestrooms with sizes starting from 34 sqm, including 45-sqm Deluxe Suites. There will also be a ground-floor restaurant and bar, fitness centre and on-site parking space in the hotel.
Hilton said contemporary art will be a “cornerstone” at the hotel, which will feature “large-scale” prints created by local artists on the walls of each room. It added that the works will be selected in partnership with local Christchurch art specialists with the aim of “celebrating Christchurch’s rich history of modern art and design”.
What’s more, the hotel will also feature “significant pieces of modernist furniture”.
The two new properties will join Hilton’s portfolio of 336 hotels in the Asia-Pacific region across nine brands.

Tapestry Collection is Hilton’s 14th brand. Hilton describes it as “a portfolio of upscale, original hotels that offers guests unique style and vibrant personality, and encourages guests to explore the local destination”. The brand now has a portfolio of more than 20 independent hotels worldwide.

Last month, Hilton unveiled its 18th brand named “Tempo by Hilton”, which it describes as an “approachable” lifestyle brand aimed at new demographic of travellers.
In 2021, Hilton’s luxury LXR brand will also make its debut in the Asia-Pacific region with a new property in Kyoto, Japan.
