Easyhotel has announced plans for its second Spanish property.

The Madrid hotel will be located on Calle de Mendez Alvaro, around a ten minute walk from the city’s high-speed Atocha rail station.

The property will feature 230 rooms, and is expected to open in the financial year 2021/22.

It will join an existing Easyhotel property in Barcelona, located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat close to the city’s airport.

Commenting on the news Scott Christie, interim CEO at easyHotel, said:

“Our new investment in Spain marks the latest step in our strategy to expand our owned hotel network across centrally located, high quality sites in major European cities.

“Madrid is an iconic destination with numerous attractions for both tourist and business travellers, and we are confident our super budget offering will resonate with visitors keen to experience Spain’s capital.

“The Group continues to make good progress towards securing sites in its target destinations and we look forward to announcing further developments in due course.”

Last summer Easyhotel reopened its flagship hotel on London’s Old Street, following a refurbishment of its guest rooms, and the group recently announced the acquisition and rebranding of the Ibis Palais des Congres in Nice.
