Passengers travelling onboard Japanese carrier ANA’s flights this Friday will get complimentary chocolates for Valentine’s Day.
First class and business class passengers on international flights to America, Europe and India will get chocolates from French chocolatier Pierre Hermé. According to ANA, this chocolate is called “Ispahan” and is created exclusively for the airline.
The airline said the chocolate has “two distinct textures” as well as flavours from four kinds of berries – cranberries, raspberries, blueberries and strawberries. What’s more, the Ispahan chocolates are coated in an additional layer of white chocolate and “emit a subtle lychee and strawberry fragrance”.
Other international passengers and domestic passengers will receive local brand Meiji The Chocolate’s “Comfort Bitter” chocolate, which has wrapping created exclusively for the airline.
According to ANA, this chocolate is made from premium Venezuelan cacao beans that “have been roasted at high temperatures in order to bring out their strong flavour”, and this results in a “deep nutty taste that is unique to beans from this region of South America”.
“At ANA we make every effort to improve travel for our passengers, and that includes focusing on even the most minute details,” said Hideki Kunugi, Executive Vice President of ANA.
ANA said it has been giving away chocolates on Valentine’s Day since 2014.
However, it added that distribution service may be cancelled on some flights “due to flight conditions”.
Japan’s flag carrier, Japan Airlines, will also serve Lotte’s Ghana milk chocolate on Valentine’s Day this year.
Emirates is offering passengers a range of Valentine’s Day themed desserts and treats on board and across its lounge network from February 13 to 15.
