Oneworld has confirmed that member carrier LATAM will leave the alliance on May 1 this year.

The carrier announced its decision to leave Oneworld last autumn, following Delta’s announcement that it will take a 20 per cent stake in the Latin American carrier.

At the time Oneworld said that the carrier would leave the alliance “in due course”, and the date has now been set for the start of May.

LATAM customers will enjoy Oneworld benefits up to and including April 30, although note that LATAM Pass members will not receive Oneworld frequent flyer benefits offered by Royal Air Maroc, which is set to join the alliance on April 1.

Oneworld has published a frequently asked questions page on its website regarding LATAM’s withdrawal from the alliance, and says that “A number of Oneworld member airlines plan to maintain frequent flyer agreements with LATAM after April 30”, with customers advised to contact their airlines for more information.
