Hotel groups with properties in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are waiving cancellation fees and offering more flexible rebooking policies amid concern over the spread of the coronavirus.

Numerous airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, KLM, Finnair, Air France, United, Delta and American Airlines, have suspended some or all of their flights to mainland China.

This is what the big hotel groups have said on their policies as of Friday February 7.

Intercontinental Hotels Group

Guests travelling to or from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan between January 23 and February 29 will be able to change or cancel a booking reservation without a fee.

This applies to bookings made directly through the hotel, at ihg.com, on the IHG app or through the IHG Central Reservations Centre. For more information contact 400 884 0888 (from mainland China) or +86 21 20334888 (international).

Accor Hotels

For any guest planning to travel to Accor-branded properties in Greater China (*People’s Republic of China, Hong-Kong, Macau and Taiwan) until February 29, 2020 regardless of booking channel and for any guest planning to travel from Greater China to any Accor properties worldwide until February 29, 2020 regardless of the booking channel, all hotels will accept cancellations or offer modifications (without penalties) for individual travellers and groups.

Accor is closely monitoring the situation and will advise according to its evolution.

Radisson Hotel Group

Guests with reservations at any China hotel can cancel free of charge for bookings until February 29. Meanwhile, all guests from China can also cancel their bookings free of charge at any Radisson-branded hotels worldwide until February 29. For more information contact 400 678 0290.

Marriott International

Cancellation fees have been waived for hotel stays through February 29, for all guests with reservations in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as all guests from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan travelling to any global Marriott hotel.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts

Guests travelling to or from mainland China with direct bookings for stays in any Wyndham hotel through February 29 will have their cancellation or change penalties waived. This also applies to bookings made by guests travelling from China to any global Wyndham-branded hotels.

Hyatt

Guests who have booked hotels in China, Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan through hyatt.com, the World of Hyatt App, the WeChat Mini Program and or the Global Contact Center can postpone or cancel without a cancellation fee for stays until February 29. Contact details can be found here.

Hilton has a rebooking and cancellation waiver in place for all guests who plan to travel to any Hilton-branded property in Greater China before February 29.
