Wyndham has opened its first La Quinta property outside of the Americas in Istanbul.

The 404-room La Quinta by Wyndham Istanbul Gunesli is located west of the city centre, around 20 minutes’ drive from the Istanbul Expo Centre.

The hotel has over 1,500 sqm of event space, with eight meeting rooms and one ballroom.

Facilities include three restaurants, a fitness centre with a sauna, a Turkish bath, spa bath, steam room and indoor heated pool.

Wyndham Hotels and Resorts is the largest international hotel group in Turkey, with 80 hotels.

It is also the world’s largest hotel franchising company, counting over 9,200 hotels across 20 brands in 80 countries.

The midscale, select-service La Quinta brand has 900 properties in North and Latin America. It was bought by US-based Wyndham in 2018.

“When La Quinta joined the Wyndham family we saw tremendous opportunity to grow the brand internationally,” said Dimitris Manikis, Wyndham’s managing director for EMEA.

“With a record of over 13 million international visitors in 2018 alone and an incredible variety of historical, cultural and business sites, Istanbul is one of the world’s most attractive cities for travel, making it the perfect fit for La Quinta’s European debut.”

Last year Wyndham made several changes to its loyalty programme, adding 7,500 and 30,000 point tiers for award night redemptions to its previous flat rate of 15,000 points.
