Marriott International and Intercontinental Hotels Group are expanding their presence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Fairfield by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem, Intercontinental Dammam and Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Malaz are scheduled to open in 2023, 2024 and 2020 respectively.

By bringing the first Fairfield by Marriott property to the Middle East and Africa region, Marriott is all set to create the largest Fairfield hotel in the world.

To be opened in partnership with Nahdet Al-Mashaer (a hospitality firm in Saudi Arabia), the 2600-key Fairfield by Marriott Makkah Al Naseem set to rise in five towers in the Al Naseem district and in close proximity to the Grand Mosque. Signature amenities such as complimentary hot breakfast and coffee, a fitness centre and a lobby market open 24/7 are on the cards.

“We are thrilled to be working with Nahdet Al-Mashaer to create a distinctive Fairfield by Marriott that will serve Makkah, the sought-out destination for rising numbers of religious pilgrims. We expect this hotel will become a popular destination, especially given the strong demand for high-quality lodging in the Holy City,” says Jerome Briet, chief development officer, Middle East and Africa, Marriott International.

Saudi Arabia is currently Marriott International’s second-largest market in the Middle East, with a portfolio that consists of 29 properties and over 8,000 rooms across nine brands and nine cities.

Intercontinental Dammam will be IHG’s first hotel in the city and will be a short drive to the Coral Island. With 289 rooms and suites, it will house three restaurants, an outdoor pool and deck, an indoor pool, a gym and six well-equipped meeting rooms.

Marking the fifth Holiday Inn-branded hotel in the city, the 121-rooms Holiday Inn Riyadh Al Malaz will be located in the city centre of Riyadh, near government institutions. The hotel will offer an array of amenities including a pool, a gym, a business centre, meeting rooms and two restaurants.
