Hyatt has opened a new Hyatt Regency hotel in the Hengqin New Area in the southern Chinese city of Zhuhai.

Situated on the Hengqin Island on the west of Macau’s Taipa, Cotai and Coloane Village districts, Hyatt Regency Hengqin is close to the Hengqin Port between Zhuhai and Macau, and is within reach of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB), which links its eponymous three cities together by land for the first time.

Hyatt Regency Hengqin - King Guestroom

The hotel has 493 guestrooms, including 55 suites. Room sizes range from 40 to 240 sqm. Most guestrooms and suites offer views overlooking the Hengqin new town. Each room has a 65-inch widescreen LCD TV with international satellite channels. Suites and Regency Club rooms are equipped with Nespresso coffee machines.

Regency Club guests have access to the hotel’s club lounge, where they can enjoy complimentary services, including concierge service, private check-in and check-out, daily refreshments and a dedicated meeting room.

Hyatt Regency Hengqin - Market Café

There are six dining outlets in the hotel, three of which are already open: Market Café is a self-service, market-style restaurant equipped with live cooking stations; La Cucina, an extension of Market Café, features Italian cuisine and other European delicacies; The Lounge serves a selection of specialty teas, coffees, cocktails and snacks.

Three additional F&B outlets are set to open in the early spring of 2020, including Xiang Yue Cantonese restaurant, which will feature an open kitchen reminiscent of a hawker-style eatery, a series of fish tanks showcased throughout the dining space, and a menu highlighting fresh seafood and “top-quality ingredient”; Pool Pavilion, an al fresco dining venue serving barbecue food and craft cocktails; and The 180° Rooftop Bar, which, perched on the 23rd floor, will afford a 180-degree view of the outdoor landscape.

The hotel’s wellness facilities will also open in the early spring of 2020. There will be a 24-hour fitness centre, a 100-sqm members’ lounge, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and the Flo Spa that has six separate treatment rooms. What’s more, there will also be Camp Hyatt, an “interactive play world of creative discovery zones” designed for children with spaces for learning, creating, socialising and having fun.

In terms of event and meeting facilities, the hotel has a total of 3,757 sqm of event space, including the 1,620-sqm Regency Ballroom that features an outdoor garden, floor-to-ceiling windows, natural lighting, and can accommodate up to 1,300 guests; the 953-sqm Regency Salon that offers two open kitchen display areas; as well as three additional multipurpose rooms for small groups and meetings.

The new hotel itself forms part of the Novotown complex, which is home to a variety of attractions such as Lionsgate Entertainment World and National Geographic Explorer. Business Traveller Asia-Pacific visited this complex in June 2019 when it was still under construction.

“We are thrilled to announce the opening of Hyatt Regency Hengqin,” said William Yuen, general manager of Hyatt Regency Hengqin.

“As a new, international branded hotel in Hengqin, Zhuhai, we are excited to offer superior comfort and excellent service at a convenient location.”

Zhuhai, a coastal city situated in the south of Guangdong province, is one of the key cities in China’s Greater Bay Area scheme and is now on course to grow rapidly with its diverse industries, leisure resorts and strategic location near Hong Kong and Macau.

Hengqin New Area, located in the south of Zhuhai, is not only home to large entertainment complexes including Chimelong and Novotown, but is also one of the three pilot free trade zones in Guangdong province, with the other two being Guangzhou’s Nansha district, and Shenzhen’s Qianhai and Shekou districts.
