Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced plans to bring its boutique Hotel indigo brand to the Russian capital.

Hotel Indigo Moscow – Tverskaya will be housed within a converted building on Tverskaya Street, and will feature “approximately 100 rooms”, as well as a gym and lobby bar.

The property is scheduled to open by the end of 2020, and will be the second Hotel Indigo in Russia, joining the existing Hotel Indigo St Petersburg Tchaikovskogo.

The Hotel Indigo brand was launched in 2004, and currently has over 100 properties across 19 countries, with plans to double its portfolio over the next three to five years.

Forthcoming locations include Lima, Doha and London’s Clerkenwell district.

Commenting on the news Aron Libinson, vice president, operations and development, Russia, CIS and Georgia said:

“We’re very excited to sign the second Hotel Indigo here in Russia. I am confident guests will love this new upscale boutique offering in the heart of Moscow. IHG have a strong presence in Russia and we’re continuing to grow at pace.

“There is a lot of potential for brands in this market and we have the perfect portfolio to meet the demand for mainstream and upscale hotels. With 5 signings in the past month, I’m happy with the progress we’re making with our growth strategy across the entire Russia, CIS and Georgia region.”

IHG currently has 14 properties in Moscow, under brands including Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
