Easyjet has unveiled 25 new routes for 2020, including the airline’s first flights to Albania’s capital.

The low-cost carrier will serve Tirana International airport from Gatwick, with three flights per week starting on May 1, 2020.

British Airways also serves the Gatwick-Tirana route, while Albanian carrier Albawings operates flights from London Stansted, and Wizz Air flies from Luton.

Tirana is located in central Albania, but only 40 miles from the Adriatic coast line. The city will be the European Youth Capital in 2022.

Meanwhile Easyjet is to return to Tunisia for the first time since 2015, with twice weekly flights between Gatwick and the beach destination of Enfidha, launching on May 2 next year.

Of the 25 new routes announced for 2020, 12 of these will operate from the UK, with other examples including Liverpool to Antalya and Edinburgh to Gibraltar.

Commenting on the news last week, Ali Gayward, Easyjet’s UK Country Manager said:

“We’re pleased to be continuing to deliver an unrivalled network which, with today’s announcement, sees two new destinations for passengers from the UK and 25 new routes placed on sale across our network. Our new routes are making it easier and more affordable than ever for our customers to travel to a range of summer destinations.

“We expect our new destinations to be especially popular amongst customers – offering something different from typical bucket and spade holidays. We are continuing to deliver a network of destinations which provide our customers with flexibility and choice, underlining our commitment to providing the destinations our customers want.”
