Design-oriented hotel brand The Hoxton has announced plans to open a Rome property in autumn 2020.

The 192-room hotel will be located in Salario, north of the city centre, and will have a coffee bar, restaurant and outdoor terrace.

UK-based development firm Ennismore, owner of The Hoxton, said it is working with Fettle Design to renovate a 1970s building, adding marble walls and vibrant terrazzo floors inspired by surrounding architecture.

A large lobby space will have a mix of seating, an open kitchen and a fireplace, while bedrooms will feature rustic parquet flooring, local stone and geometric timber wall panelling.

Larger rooms will have original Murano glass chandeliers.

It will mark the 10th Hoxton property, following openings this year in Chicago, London Southwark and Los Angeles.

Other properties are in Shoreditch, Holborn, Amsterdam, Paris and New York.

The hotels now have a flexible check-in/check-out policy which allows guests who book 72 hours in advance to select any arrival and departure time.

Hoxton recently launched a co-working space brand that has debuted in Chicago and Southwark.
