Hilton has announced plans for a second Paris property under its Canopy lifestyle brand.
The 150-room Canopy by Hilton Paris Quartier Latin will be located on rue Lacepede, close to the city’s Jardin des Plantes.
Expected to open in 2022, the hotel will be housed with a new seven-storey building, combined with a renovated historical mansion which features an “Eiffel-style industrial roof”.
Facilities will include a restaurant, bar, tea room and fitness centre, and the hotel will also feature a “vegetated façade with climbing plants”, as well as a ground floor garden.
The property will join the Canopy by Hilton Paris Trocadero which is scheduled to open in 2020.
The Canopy brand was launched in 2014, and there are currently just nine properties open, including the brand’s first mainland Europe hotel which opened in Zagreb in November 2018.
Canopy London City was originally set to open in 2018, but is now expected to be unveiled next year.
Commenting on the news Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development, EMEA, Hilton said:
“With the first property opening near Trocadero in 2020, introducing the second Canopy by Hilton hotel to Paris, the first on the left-bank, is a significant milestone in our French expansion plans.
“Already one of the world’s most visited cities, Paris is enjoying a surge in tourism, recording close to 40 million visitors in 2018, with demand set to increase.
“Canopy by Hilton Paris Quartier Latin creates the ultimate Parisian experience. It is perfect for exploring this charming neighbourhood, and its central location is ideal for those who want to search out Paris’ cultural sites, gastronomic adventures and all that this remarkable city of light has to offer.”
