The 181-room Riggs Washington DC will be in Penn Quarter in the former Riggs National Bank, near the National Portrait Gallery.

The hotel will have a café (pictured below), restaurant, underground cocktail bar and rooftop event space.

There will be 15 uniquely-decorated suites, including the two-bedroom Riggs Suite in the original bank boardroom.

Events will be held on the 2,500 sqft rooftop, which offers panoramic views over the city, as well as in various meeting, dining and event rooms.

“Lore Group continues to explore ways to deliver inspired and approachable hospitality concepts to interesting places around the world,” said Billy Skelli-Cohen, group CEO.

“With Riggs Washington DC, we have created a hotel and F&B concepts that celebrate both the legacy of the building – and the history of the city – through unexpected details and a thoughtful approach to guest experience.”

Rooms will start from $329/£256 a night.
