Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas has announced it first urban property in Europe, with the rebranding of The Marker hotel in Dublin.

The 187-room hotel is located in the Docklands area of the Irish capital, and features a “futuristic” design, with facilities including a spa, rooftop terrace, La Brasserie restaurant and eight meeting spaces.

The property will rebrand “in the coming months”, although it’s not clear whether the hotel will retain The Marker name in addition to Anantara branding.

Thai-based Anantara already operates two European properties – Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in Portugal and the recently launched Anantara Villa Padierna Palace in Marbella in Spain.

Aside from Thailand, the brand also has a presence in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malyasia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, the UAE, Vietnam and Zambia.

The chain is part of Minor Hotels Group, which bought NH Hotels Group last year – the latter operates the Anantara brand in Europe.

Commenting on the news Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, said:

“We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our luxury Anantara brand into northwest Europe in the fair city of Dublin.

“The Marker Hotel is already known as one of the city’s leading hotels and bringing the reputation and luxury touch points of Anantara to the property will further elevate the guest experience.”
