Marriott has opened the latest property under its luxury lifestyle brand Edition.
The hotel is located on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, in an area Marriott says has “experienced its highs and lows”. It now plans to revive the area’s “Golden Age energy” and create a “new kind of gathering place for visitors and locals alike on Sunset Strip”.
The new-build property was designed by British architect John Pawson, who used Western Red Cedar for the entryway and front doors, and Italian travertine for the three-storey lobby area.
The 140 rooms and 50 suites feature whitewashed Siberian Larch wood, floor-to-ceiling windows and freestanding bathtubs.
The property contains an underground club, a spa and a rooftop garden with panoramic views.
An outdoor pool also has views over the city.
Restaurant Ardor by chef John Fraser will serve healthy, locally-sourced dishes.
A collaboration with American hotelier Ian Schrager, there are now ten Edition hotels, with existing properties in New York, London, Miami, Barcelona, Shanghai, Sanya, China, Abu Dhabi and Bodrum.
Openings are scheduled in Tokyo, Reykjavik, Rome and Dubai in 2020.
