Emirates has introduced a special menu to celebrate Onam, an annual harvest festival of Kerala. Available until September 13, the authentic Kerala meal will be served across all cabin on Emirates flights to and from Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The airline tweeted:
On the menu are traditional appetisers such as crisp banana chips, banana roasted in jaggery, and fried sundried chillies steeped in yoghurt. Dips include kaalan made of coconut, yoghurt and yam; a garnished salad and a sweet and tangy ginger-based chutney.
First and business class passengers will also be served Kerala-style pappadam and mango pickle. Passengers travelling in economy class from Dubai to Kerala get to choose between two main dishes: Alleppey chicken curry or sambar made of lentils and vegetables and kootu. For desserts, you have milk pudding with roasted nuts.
Likewise,passengers flying from Kerala to Dubai in economy can choose between spiced chicken sukha with roasted coconut or sambar. Conclude your meal with a lentil pudding.
All meals will be served on banana leaves placed in trays and dish liners across all cabins.
The Onam feast can be enjoyed with a selection of popular Malayalam movies and music available on ice, the Dubai-based airline’s inflight entertainment system.
