Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced the opening of Intercontinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort, which is the latest in the series of new luxury resort openings by the brand for 2019.

Expressing his views on this new launch, Stefan O. Huemer, general manager, Intercontinental Maldives said, “The opening of the Intercontinental Maldives signals a new era for the brand; and further raises the bar in terms of luxury and immersive experiences here in the Raa Atoll.

Situated on the southernmost tip of the Raa Atoll near Baa Atoll, a Unesco biosphere reserve, this IHG property features 81 beach, lagoon and overwater villas and residences. The lagoon villas offer overwater views with direct beach and lagoon access, as well as private infinity and jacuzzi pools; the overwater villas have chic outdoor decks and beach villas provide direct beach access. In addition to this, the resort also has four exclusive two and three-bedroom residences.

In terms of F&B, Intercontinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort offers six unique restaurants and bars including The Retreat with private bar and infinity pool; Café Umi, a Japanese-inspired restaurant; Fish Market for authentic Maldivian seafood and The Collective with grab-and-go concept.

Guests can enjoy wellness services at the resort’s signature Avi Spa equipped with six overwater treatment villas, steam rooms, ice fountains, a yoga pavilion and a fitness centre.

Since, this is the first and only all-Club Intercontinental resort, guests will be able to enjoy a range of exclusive benefits such as afternoon tea with rare loose-leaf varietals selected by the in-house tea sommelier, post-dinner drinks and all-day refreshments by the pool or beach.
