Snap Inc. has brought its Landmarkers feature to India, under which Snapchat users will be able to enjoy augmented reality (AR) experience on two iconic monuments — Gateway of India in Mumbai and Taj Mahal in Agra.

These new locations will be available as Landmarker templates alongside twelve other locations worldwide, which forms a part of the updated Lens Studio 2.1. Other new locations added are Arc de Triomphe in Paris; Astronomical Clock in Prague; Brandenburg Gate in Berlin; Galata Tower in Istanbul, Turkey and Statue of Liberty in the US.

The updated version also includes six new templates adding to the existing library of nearly 40 Lens templates. Face in video, portrait particles, countdown, skeletal, Hair colour and make-up are some of these new features.

To activate the new Landmarker feature, user has to simply point the Snapchat camera at the monument on location. Up until now over 5,00,000 lenses have been created by the Snapchat community using Lens Studio, and they have been played with over 15 billion times.

For first time users of Lens Studio, there is a new interactive tour available with step-by-step process, and for those who are already familiar with it, there is a  start screen content that highlights new templates and features.
