Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has announced plans to open a 223-room property in Dallas, Texas.

The Intercontinental Dallas Uptown is scheduled to open in early 2022 across eight floors of the Cityplace Tower, a 42-storey mixed-use building which is being renovated by real estate investor Nexpoint.

The former Intercontinental Dallas in the north of the city was converted to Marriott brand Renaissance in 2018.

The new hotel will have a bar, Club Intercontinental Lounge, outdoor pool and a terrace overlooking the Uptown neighbourhood.

It will also have meeting spaces, a ballroom, and valet operations at the entrance.

Cityplace Tower is set to get new food and retail offerings and a gym.

UK-based IHG has 205 Intercontinental hotels open worldwide, with another 61 in its pipeline.

Joel Eisemann, IHG’s chief development officer for the Americas, commented: “We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Highland Capital to bring the Intercontinental brand back to Dallas, and offer world-renowned luxury service to business and leisure travellers.

“With its iconic design, sweeping panoramic views of the Dallas skyline, and premiere Uptown neighborhood location, the Cityplace Tower is a natural fit for an InterContinental hotel. This project will be a tremendous addition to our luxury portfolio in the Americas.”
