Google extends travel price comparison tool

Google has announced new features to help users plan trips, including one which shows whether the price of planned flights plus accommodation is high, low or typical.

It will also display how the average price of the flights has changed in previous months and notify users if it predicts the price will change.

From now until September 2, it says that it will predict when prices won’t decrease on select itineraries, and refund the difference if it gets it wrong.

Earlier this year Google rolled out a tool to show whether flight prices are above or below average.

The new feature will initially only be available on select itineraries originating in the US.

Last week, Google shut down its travel planning app Trips and is now integrating some of its features into Maps and Search, such as neighbourhood recommendations, reservation notes and saved destinations.

Recommendations will also be available at google.com/travel.
