China Southern and American Airlines have started to offer reciprocal lounge access for their first class and business class passengers, as well as their frequent flyer members from August 1.

According to China Southern, its premium cabin passengers and Sky Pearl Gold elite customers will have access to 50 domestic and international Admirals Club locations (please refer to the list at the end of this article).

China Southern’s first class and business class passengers travelling on a local or connecting international long-haul flight (with a flight duration of five hours or more), marketed and operated by China Southern and American Airlines in any combination, can access any of the 50 Admirals Club lounges.

Eligible China Southern customers also include Sky Pearl Gold customers travelling on any flight marketed and operated by both airlines in any combination. Proof of status is required from passengers.

What’s more, first class passengers and Sky Pearl Gold members can invite one guest who is also travelling on any flight marketed and operated by both airlines in any combination.

Meanwhile, qualifying American Airlines customers will also have access to 38 Sky Pearl lounges in China. This includes the airline’s first class and business class passengers travelling on a local or connecting international long-haul flight marketed and operated by American Airlines and China Southern in any combination. First class customers can invite one guest on any flight marketed and operated by both airlines.

AAdvantage Elite customers travelling on any flight in any cabin marketed and operated by both airlines in any combination can also bring one guest on any flight marketed and operated by both China Southern and American Airlines.

Admiral Club members on any international flights operated by American Airlines out of China can also invite two guests, or a spouse/domestic partner and children below 18 years old.

Last November, China Southern and American Airlines announced the expansion of their codeshare partnership. Members of China Southern’s Sky Pearl Club and American Airlines’ AAdvantage frequent flyer programmes have also been able to earn and redeem miles on flights operated by the other carrier since March this year.
