British Airways has launched a beach bar on the terrace of its First lounge at Heathrow T5, in partnership with premium soft drinks and mixer brand Peter Spanton Drinks.

The carrier regularly uses the terrace for promotional activity, including partnerships with gin brands and the Wimbledon tennis championships.

The bar is part of a wider British Airways Summer Festival in the lounge, in celebration of “British seaside culture”, which runs until October 2.

Peter Spanton Drinks was launched in 2012 by the owner of Vic Naylor’s in Clerkenwell, and offers a range of “adult soft drinks and mixers”.

The bar is modelled on a traditional beach hut, and will offer cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, including the Perfect Paloma (Patrón Silver Tequila paired with Peter Spanton No.13 Salted Paloma), and Whiskey and Ginger (Uncle Nearest American Whiskey paired with Peter Spanton No.3 Dry Ginger).

There will also be frozen cocktails in partnership with Brentingby Gin, and cocktail specials each month, with August seeing a Perfect 10 G&T created with One Gin.

Guests will also be able to pick up a free “perfect pairing pack” from the bar, featuring a spirit miniature and mixer, and prizes will be given out for the best photos posted and tagged as #BAsummerbeach on Instagram.

Commenting on the news Darryl Burton, MD of Peter Spanton Drinks, said:

“We’re delighted to be part of the BA Summer Festival and to welcome travellers from around the world to our very British beach hut bar. We’re working in partnership with excellent spirits brands to showcase the authentic flavours in our range, enabling guests to start their summer holiday in style by enjoying a drink less ordinary.

“We’re also looking forward to seeing all the photos posted of drinks made with our perfect pairing packs, today’s equivalent of being sent postcards from around the world.”

Business Traveller has requested more information from british Airways regarding the wider summer festival, and will post any details received here.
