Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) will open two new Crowne Plaza properties in China later this year, with one slated to open in Shenzhen and the other in Wuzhen, Zhejiang.

Crowne Plaza Shenzhen WECC will be located near the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport and next to Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Centre, according to a press release by IHG. The new property will feature 1,400 sqm of meeting space, with five meeting rooms, including a grand ballroom with a seating capacity of 500 guests, according to the hotel group.

The Crowne Plaza Wuzhen will be near Hangzhou International Airport and close to the water village known as Wuzhen West Scenic Zone, and the World Internet Conference Centre. The new property will offer 216 sqm of event space in three meeting rooms, and another 500 sqm banquet room with a seating capacity of 260. Dining options will include Chinese restaurant Cai Feng Lou, and a café with all-day dining options called Tong Café. This hotel will also include a fitness centre, a business centre, and wifi.

IHG also announced that it will be opening two new properties in Europe called Crowne Plaza Paris Republique and Crowne Plaza Hamburg – City Alster. The hotel group’s property in Atlanta called Crowne Plaza Atlanta Perimeter at Ravinia has re-opened after being closed for nine months and undergoing renovations that were completed in April. Its property in London, Crowne Plaza London-Heathrow, will undergo renovations and re-open in early 2020.

“We can’t wait to welcome business and leisure travellers around the world to experience the new face of Crowne Plaza,” said Libby Escolme, vice president at Crowne Plaza, in a press release.

In May, IHG launched “Accelerate Ahead” as part of their “Crowne Plaza Accelerate” programme, a project that seeks to improve “overall guest experience in the Americas”.

UK-based Crowne Plaza is an upscale hotel brand of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
