Uber has rolled out a new campaign called ‘Check Your Ride,’ to strengthen safety measures for riders. As a part of this, there will be in-app reminders and a push notification that will enable riders to make sure they are getting into the right car, with the right driver by cross-checking the license plate, car make and model, and the driver photo with what’s provided in the app.

This will be available across all six continents where Uber operates.

The Uber advisory further stresses upon not boarding the vehicle if the information in the app doesn’t match.

Pavan Vaish, head of central operations, Uber – India and South Asia said,”Our goal is to make checking your ride before you get in the car synonymous with using Uber, every single time.

“This new notification feature will remind people to complete these three steps every time they get in an Uber.  It is another important and visual reminder of the importance we place on safety as well as how technology can make travel safer than ever before.”

The launch of this new feature adds to Uber’s key safety offerings such as 24 hour support team and GPS tracking of all trips.
