As a part of its regional connectivity scheme UDAN, SpiceJet has started daily  flights on Durgapur-Mumbai route. This is the airline’s third destination under the regional connectivity scheme.The route was awarded under UDAN III and is exclusive to the airline, thereby making it the only carrier to offer flight services on the sector.

The inaugural flight was welcomed with grand water cannon salute at Durgapur’s Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport. Located at Andal, this is India’s first private-sector greenfield airport and serves both the industrial cities of Durgapur and Asansol.

SpiceJet will deploy its Boeing 737 on the sector. Through this service, passengers from Durgapur will have easy access to a host of other cities both on SpiceJet’s domestic as well as international network via multiple onward connections from Mumbai.

With Durgapur, SpiceJet  now operates a total of 45 flights connecting 25 cities under UDAN regional connectivity scheme.
