Airbus Helicopters has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with India-based Pawan Hans (PHL). This strategic collaboration will see the introduction of two new categories of rotorcraft — H145 and H225, in the PHL fleet in addition to repair, maintenance and overhaul of company’s existing AS365N Dauphin helicopters. Also, a customised training and an on-site Safety Management System (SMS) for PHL pilots will also be set up.

As per the MoU, “Airbus Helicopters will support PHL in growing its onshore, offshore and inland travel markets by introducing the best-in-class H145 and H225 rotorcrafts into their fleet.” The H145 is a member of Airbus’ four-tonne-class twin-engine helicopter range, ideal in high and hot operating conditions.

Likewise, the 11-tonne twin-engine H225 is preferred among commercial operators and governmental agencies for its long range and all-weather capabilities. Its payload and range capacity make H225 a cost-effective choice for long-distance offshore operations such as PHL’s inter-island operations around the Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep islands.

PHL is the largest customer for Airbus Dauphin helicopters. At present, it has 37 units deployed for offshore oil and gas operations, VIP transportation and other utility duties.
