Finnair has unveiled its new Platinum Wing Lounge at Helsinki airport, for the use of Finnair Plus Platinum and Platinum Lumo members, as well as Oneworld Emerald cardholders.
The new lounge is located in the non-Schengen zone of the airport, “making it convenient for customers heading to London or Finnair’s Far East and Asian destinations across China, Japan and to Singapore”.
Features includes a sauna which “replicates the authentic Finnish smoke sauna experience, with a large cooling area and mood lighting to ensure a calming environment”.
There is also an upgraded dining offering in partnership with Finnish firm Fazer, including new healthy eating options and an a la carte menu available until midnight.
David Kondo, Finnair Head of Customer Experience Product Design, said that the carrier wanted to create “a sanctuary of calm from the business of the airport”, with a Nordic theme inspired by residential and hotel design.
This autumn a revamped business class lounge will open next to the Platinum Wing facility, providing a total of nearly 200 seats across the two spaces.
Helsinki airport recently completed an expansion and upgrade programme, including a new central square for long-haul passengers.
Earlier this week Plaza Premium Lounge opened its first Finnish facility, with a 445 sqm lounge at Helsinki airport. Located between gates 34 and 40 on the third floor of the non-Schengen International Departures Terminal 2, the lounge has seating for up to 140 guests.
