Minor Hotels will debut its Avani and Oaks brands in Myanmar’s largest city Yangon with the development of two hotels.

Construction work has begun onsite and vertical construction is scheduled to start in 2021. The 250-room Avani Yangon Hotel and 221-room Oaks Yangon are both set to open in 2024 and will be part of a mixed-use development, complete with office and retail space located in central Yangon.

Avani Yangon Hotel and Oaks Yangon will be less than nine kilometres from Yangon International Airport and occupy two buildings joined by an underground retail centre landscaped above with an urban park. Known for its shopping and pagodas, Yankin Township sits just east of Inya Lake, the largest lake in Yangon. The historic old Yangon town is just a few kilometres away.

Standard rooms at the Avani Yangon Hotel will measure 39 square metres. Facilities will include an all-day dining option plus a rooftop restaurant and bar. There will also be an executive lounge, ballroom, meeting facilities, an Avani Pantry, AvaniSpa and the AvaniFit-inspired fitness centre.

Rooms at Oaks Yangon will start bigger, with a minimum size of 56 square metres. There will be “amended facilities for longer stays”, including all-day dining, a kids’ club, swimming pool, and fitness facilities.

The development of the hotels is part of a management agreement with Kajima Yankin, a wholly-capitalised subsidiary of Kajima Overseas Asia.

Minor Hotels is an international hotel owner, operator and investor with 522 hotels in operation.
