Oman Air has launched its brand new cabin crew uniforms today at London Heathrow.

The new clothing has been created by Oman Air’s in-house product development and brand team, and will be introduced across the network in phases. The uniforms are currently being used on London routes, with 1,000 crew fitted in the last ten days.

The design of the outfit and accessories is inspired by the “Sultanate of Oman’s rich colours, culture, history and heritage” and has retained its recognisable turquoise hues, drawing inspiration from the Sea of Oman.

Female uniforms include a turquoise one-piece dress with a flowing cut that falls below the knees, developed “to ensure that it is both comfortable and elegant for various nationalities and profiles”. This is accompanied by a jacket in the same colour, tailored to “convey flair and elegance”, and a newly designed hat. Stewards will wear a modern dark teal suit with a turquoise tie.

Uniforms for cabin directors differ slightly, with the addition of gold accents alongside the turquoise palette.

Female uniforms include the same dress, but in a darker teal shade, with a golden hat and veil. The latter will be removed after boarding, and stewardesses will change into a dinner jacket during meal service. This will be accompanied by a floral scarf, designed to embody Oman’s seasonal colours – the turquoise, gold, and magenta colours are inspired by the country’s sea, sunset and rose-covered mountains.

Male cabin directors will be dressed in a grey vest and gold tie.

Commenting on the new uniforms Abdulaziz Al Raisi, CEO of Oman Air, said:

“Inspired by the rich elements of Oman, our new uniform is a testimony that style can be derived from our own inspiring landscapes and surroundings. It was a richly rewarding experience working on this project and we are very proud and excited to now introduce the brand new uniforms on our Oman Air flights. The tremendous amount of effort and time dedicated by our team working through multiple design iterations, and modifications before the precise styling and overall look was achieved in each garment, is indeed praiseworthy”.

The carrier will showcase the design process of the uniform in “State of Grace”, the first of five videos in Oman Air’s “State of Wonder”, a new series which will be progressively launched across all social media channels.
