IndiGo has announced the addition of Chengdu, China as its 19th international destination. Starting from September 15, the Interglobe Aviation-led carrier will operate daily non-stop flights between New Delhi and Chengdu.

Commenting on this new launch, William Boulter, chief commercial officer, IndiGo said, “India is witnessing a much higher growth rate with respect to aviation and currently the India-China route is underserved by Indian carriers.
“With our plan to operate non-stop daily flights to Chengdu, we are providing the much-needed connectivity between the two destinations. China is a market with immense potential and holds prominent trade, cultural and tourism values. We hope to further strengthen this relation by announcing our entry into China.”
IndiGo has witnessed a tremendous growth in its international expansion strategy this year — the low-cost carrier has launched services to 11 international destinations between 2018 and 2019. Among its recent additions is Kolkata-Hong Kong, Mumbai-Dammam and Chennai-Kuala Lumpur service.
On the domestic front, IndiGo is to start daily non-stop flights connecting Ahmedabad with Bagdogra and Guwahati, July 5 onwards.
