Asia Miles and American Express are rolling out a series of offers for American Express Cathay Pacific credit cardholders in Hong Kong this month, including a better miles-earning rate as well as bonus miles and discounts for bookings on Hotels.com.

Until June 30, Asia Miles members can earn one Asia Mile for every HK$5 (US$0.64) they spend locally using an American Express Cathay Pacific Elite Credit Card – an improvement over the usual rate of one Asia Mile for every HK$6 (US$0.77) spent locally. For new cardholders, this better miles earn rate will extend for their first three months rather than just one.

Meanwhile, between June 17 and 30, American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card holders can earn 800 bonus miles on bookings made through Hotels.com on transactions of at least HK$1,500 (US$191.3). The offer is valid for stays until September 30 this year and only applies to the first 500 transactions.

Bonus miles will be credited to the cardholders’ Asia Miles account within six to eight weeks after the promotion period, according to the terms and conditions for the promotion.

Members can also enjoy a 12 per cent discount on select hotel bookings worldwide with Hotels.com using the same American Express Cathay Pacific Credit Card with the promotion code “12AMEXJUN” during the same period.

Asia Miles is the rewards programme for Hong Kong-based airlines Cathay Pacific and its subsidiary Cathay Dragon.

Aside from American Express, Asia Miles also partners with Standard Chartered and Mastercard on another co-branded Hong Kong credit card – the Standard Chartered Asia Miles Mastercard. Holders of this card earn one Asia Mile for every HK$4 (US$0.51) spent on dining, online and overseas categories, or for every HK$6 spent on other categories.
