Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced plans for a fifth Hotel Indigo property in London.

The 151-room property will be housed within a development combining the listed Hat and Feathers pub building, with two new wings.

Hotel Indigo London Clerkenwell is expected to open in 2021, and will feature an all-day dining restaurant and five meeting rooms, as well as incorporating the pub (which is currently closed) into the hotel.

The property is located on Clerkenwell Road, within walking distance of Barbican, Farringdon and Old Street stations.

The Hotel Indigo brand launched in 2004, and currently has around 100 properties across over 15 countries. There are plans to double the portfolio in the next three to five years. In the UK there are 15 hotels under the boutique brand, with seven in the pipeline.

Commenting on the news Jon Colley, Head of Development UK and Ireland for IHG, said:

“We are excited to bring Hotel Indigo London – Clerkenwell into portfolio. We are seeing strong growth in the boutique market in the UK and this hotel strengthens our position in the capital.

“This signing will join the newly opened Kimpton Fitzroy London and Hotel Indigo London – 1 Leicester Square to build out our boutique presence in the UK’s capital.”

The Yotel chain is also currently developing a 212-room property on Clerkenwell Road, its first city centre property in Europe.
