Marriott has added its first Aloft property in Ireland, with the opening of the Aloft Dublin City.

The 202-room hotel is located in the Blackpitts area of the city’s Liberties quarter, and features the brand’s signature Wxyz bar, located on the seventh floor with views across the city.

Rooms feature 49-inch TVs, headboards designed by local artist Sketchy, and Mobile Key technology, enabling guests to access their rooms using a smartphone or Apple Watch.

Other facilities include a fitness centre, free wifi, and a meeting room accommodating up to 14 people.

Commenting on the news John Licence, Vice President Premium and Select Brands, Europe at Marriott International, said:

“As a brand for music lovers and music makers, we are so excited to debut Aloft Hotels in Dublin, the city that shares our passion for live music.

“From the buskers on Grafton Street to shows in the National Concert Hall, the live music experience in Dublin is a special one and we can’t wait to add to the city’s buzzing night-time scene by inviting emerging artists to take the stage at our Live At Aloft series.”

Dublin’s regenerated Liberties area was once home to the city’s tannery and leather trade, and now features a number of media and technology companies, alongside attractions including the Guinness Storehouse Museum, and the country’s largest church, St Patrick’s Cathedral.

Earlier this month Marriott welcomed The Shelbourne hotel in Dublin into its Autograph Collection.
