Qatar Airways has made a formal submission to the Indian authorities to allow the implementation of temporary assistance to Indian expats travelling to and from Qatar during the summer travel peak. The vacuum created by recent changes in the Indian aviation industry has impacted Qatar-India travel market, with fewer flights and higher booking prices.

The contingency plan designed by Qatar Airways aims to make the additional number of seats available on certain popular routes such as Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru on a temporary basis. This is expected to help over 7,00,000 Indian expats living in Qatar

Commenting on the formal request, Akbar Al Baker, Chief Executive Officer, Qatar Airways’ said, “Qatar Airways believes that the proposed contingency plan is a sound and practical way to address the financial and emotional stress that Indian travellers are set to experience in the coming weeks.

“We are extremely proud of the great contribution made by Indian nationals to our airline and to our nation and we seek to be a loyal and reliable partner in the face of adversity”.
