The first London hotel under the Accor-backed Mama Shelter brand is set to open in east London later this year.

The 195-room Mama London is located on Hackney Road, close to Cambridge Heath station on the London Overground Line, and Bethnal Green Underground station on the Central Line.

The hotel is now taking reservations for stays from September, with rooms ranging from the Small Mama (11-16 sqm), to the XL Mama (35 sqm), and facilities including free wifi and movies on demand, 49-inch Samsung TVs, a mini fridge, safe and desk.

There will also be a restaurant – full details of which have yet to be released – as well as a private dining room and two karaoke rooms.

The Mama Shelter brand was founded in 2008 by French businessman Serge Trigano and designer Philippe Starck.

Accor purchased a 35 per cent stake in Mama Shelter in 2014 – the brand currently has around ten properties in locations including LA, Paris, Prague and Rio, with a hotel also set to open in Lille in August, followed by a second Paris property in October.
