Design Hotels will welcome its first member property in Scotland this summer, with the opening of the Market Street Hotel.
The 98-room property is currently taking reservations for stays from June 17, with lead-in rates from £174 per night.
As the name suggests, the hotel is located on Market Street, close to Edinburgh Waverley station and on the edge of the city’s Old Town.
The exterior of the property has been “clad in Scottish stone to both preserve and challenge the capital’s architectural landscape”, while interiors resemble “a contemporary pastiche of a traditional Scottish fortress”, with “cracked, earthen walls juxtaposed with the clean, minimalist lines of modern furnishings and unexpected bursts of traditional fabrics and tartans”.
The hotel also features a rooftop champagne bar Nor’ Loft with terrace, centered around a champagne table offering over ten “prestige labels”.
Including the forthcoming Market Street Hotel, there are 14 Design Hotels in the UK – 12 in London, along with Oddfellows On The Park in Manchester.
In 2016 Starwood Hotels launched a partnership with Design Hotels, allowing guests to earn and redeem points at selected properties – this tie-up has continued with the merging of the Starwood Preferred Guest scheme into the Marriott Bonvoy programme.
