Tech upgrades at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad

As a part of its robust expansion plan, Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad (RGIA Hyderabad) recently received a new Interim Domestic Arrival Terminal (IDAT).

Spread across 4000 metres in the east of the existing passenger terminal building, IDAT is an exclusive domestic baggage reclaim concourse, primarily for passengers arriving on aircraft parked at remote stands.  Inclinators and a ramp connect IDAT to the airport building.

The new interim terminal is aimed at handling 50 per cent of domestic arrival traffic. The new facility includes four baggage carousel belts of 45 metres each, which is expected to speed up the baggage delivery process.

RGIA Hyderabad tweeted

To further enhance the checkin process, RGIA Hyderabad has implemented an Automated Tray Retrieval System (ATRS) at domestic departures. With this the security check process at the airport has been completely automated. Furthermore, trials for facial recognition technology is also underway.

In order to tackle the growing passenger traffic, RGIA Hyderabad has adopted many tech innovations for smooth airport experience. These include express security check and paperless boarding. hyderabad.aero
